All professional goals should follow these five principles: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Time-based.
If a goal doesn’t follow the SMART principles, it is most likely just a dream. However, if a goal follows the SMART principles, it’s much more likely to come true.

Your goal needs to be specific which means, it must include key details about what, who, when, where, why, and how you’re going to achieve them.
For example: Rather than setting a broad goal like losing weight, you can set a more defined goal, which can be, “I want to lose 5 pounds by cutting out junk food”.
